All classes are good for all levels from beginner to advanced, and for all physical abilities. You don’t need any prior experience with yoga to take your first class today.
As Bikram himself says, “It’s never too late, it’s never too bad, and you’re never too old or too sick to start from scratch once again.”
Here are some tips to help you get ready for your first class.
Arrive 15 minutes early to class.
You may want to eat something light 2-3 hours prior to class, but please avoid eating a heavy meal.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day to arrive hydrated.
Keep an open mind: while you may not be able to perform all the postures on your first visit, don’t be discouraged! A successful yoga practice requires persistence and determination. Listen to your instructor, work at a comfortable pace, respect your body’s limits, and just do the best you can.
Drink plenty of water after class to rehydrate. Coconut water is a natural way to replenish your electrolytes.
Try to take your second class within 24 hours. Sore muscles and stiffness are indicators of the strengthening and transformation taking place as a result of your practice. Following up with another class will assist in conditioning the muscles and advance the healing process. You’ll see more results with a regular practice; the practice can be done daily, and if you come at least 3 times a week, you’ll get the benefits!
Please maintain silence when in the practice rooms (before, during, and after class).
Please try and stay in the practice room for the whole class. In an emergency, get permission from the instructor first.
Please do not bring anything into the practice room other than your mat, towel, and a beverage.
Please refrain from wearing perfumes, oils, or cologne in class. People may have allergies.
No shoes or socks in the practice room. Clean feet only!
You are welcome to sit out of any posture, or lie down when you need to.
Students in the front row help the teacher guide the class; if you are new to the practice, or you are not at your best or need to do modifications, we kindly suggest setting up in the back rows.
Please wipe up after yourself. Sweat towels are provided.
Bring a yoga mat, 2 towels, and water. Mats, towels, and water are all available for purchase or rent at the studio.
Full change room facilities are provided, including showers. Please limit showers to 2 minutes.
Wear light stretchy clothing – nylon/lycra blends are great.
For women we recommend shorts and a yoga/sports bra top or tank top.
For men shorts you can stretch in, and a T-shirt or tank top if desired.
As you will be sweating and your clothing will become wet – less clothing is better within your comfort level. We do not recommend sweat pants as they hold the sweat.
Arrive 15 minutes before class to fill out our new student form and sign-in at the reception desk. Studio doors open 30 minutes before each class.
